How merging and level 4 work

Patch 1.2.0 / Balance 24. Facts below are tied to a source checked on 2026-10-01. Anything still open is marked unconfirmed.

The copy rule

From the community mechanics page that quotes the shop rules: three level 1 copies make a level 2, then two level 2 copies make a level 3. Standard merging stops at level 3. Special level-up effects can reach level 4.

Special upgrades to level 4

Ultra Candy is listed at an in-game price of $60. The Professor encounter can also grant the special level-up. The community trinket card for Mega Upgrade Disc says the next monster merged to level 3 becomes level 4 instead. These are sourced examples, not an exhaustive event list or a guaranteed shop offer.

ItemIn-game price in the notes
Basic Candy$30
Rare Candy$40
Ultra Candy$60
Crimson Ticket$30 after 1.2.0 (was $50)
Green Stone, Blue Ticket, Lucky Coin$0 in the item table

Sell value

Community documentation calculates resale from base cost times the level multiplier, adds stored purchase discounts, divides by two and rounds up, then adds bonus sell value. Its level-1 to level-3 multipliers are 1, 3 and 6. The official 1.0.0 patch says level 4 now resells at the level-3 price; the community page's older multiplier of 12 for level 4 is not a current rule. Use the client tooltip for a modified unit's final price.
